WHEN CAN MY CHILD START?
Children can start Diddy Dance from the age of 2 1/2 years old. Older children will be assessed to find the most appropriate class for their ability.
WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD?
Classes are held in Robin Hood's Bay at Fylingdales Village Hall, Station Road, YO22 4RA and in Lythe at Lythe Village Hall, High Street, YO21 3RT.
HOW DO I KNOW MY CHILD WILL LIKE IT?
All children get a free trial class before they start. You are welcome to stay and watch or, if your child is happy to come in alone that is fine too. Our aim is for children to be confident to come in to class independently and enjoy themselves, and we will work with you and your child to ensure this.
HOW MUCH ARE CLASSES?
Children's classes start from £4.50 for a 30 minute class and are payable per term in advance. There are discounts available for additional classes and siblings.
Adult classes are £5.50 for a 60 minute class on a pay as you go basis with an option to pre-pay for a block at a discounted rate.
WHAT IS THE UNIFORM?
Children wear the Associated Board of Dance uniform for classes and exams. This can be purchased through our local dance shop, Dream of Dance. Click here for more information.
There is also a range of MESH Ballet clothing that can be purchased for wearing to and from class and for school events.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO TAKE EXAMS?
No. Exams are not compulsory and your child will still move up when they are ready if they choose not to take the exam. However, they do play an important part in developing a child’s confidence, self-esteem and aspirations in a positive environment and I would always encourage students to take exams.
MY CHILD HAS ADDITIONAL NEEDS CAN THEY ATTEND CLASS?
Absolutely. I worked for 17 years as an occupational therapist with children and adults in a wide range of settings. I will work with you to ensure your child's needs are met and they can enjoy the class along with their classmates.
AM I TOO OLD TO START DANCING?
No! We cater for students of all ages from the very young to the young at heart. All exercises are adapted to suit a range of abilities and everyone is able to work within their own skill set.
DO YOU PUT ON STAGE PERFORMANCES?
Yes. Every 2 years we put on a show showcasing our dance and storytelling skills. We nominate a local charity to support with proceeds from each show. It is a wonderful experience for students to be able to perform for family and friends and build their confidence and team working skills as well as their dance technique.
